SXSW is right around the corner, and right along with it is our official showcase, Shattering Stereotypes. The genre-defying lineup includes A.CHAL, Bia, Yung Beef, Ela Minus, NOIA, and Balún. We already know it’s going to be a night to remember, and to make the wait even more worthwhile, we’ve got some special unreleased material coming through the pipeline.

To kick off the celebration, we have a premiere from the hands of NOIA herself. It didn’t take much for the Barcelona artist to win our hearts after she released Habits, her stunning first EP, last year. She and Portland singer-songwriter Dan Vidmar, better known as Shy Girls, recently shared a stage at the Music Hall of Williamsburg. Fittingly, NOIA ended up remixing the first single from his debut album, “Say You Will.”

While Shy Girls’ original song is an upbeat pop moment, infused with glossy R&B, NOIA relishes the track’s seductive textures. On it, the Barcelona-Brooklyn producer dresses the song with a transparency that lets the soulful vocals bounce romantically. As expected, NOIA’s meticulousness (and knack for surprises) emerges. As the song evolves, blown-out kicks and percussion add an unexpected industrial quality. Throw in some warped vocal manipulation for a disorienting blur, and you’re in for irresistible ear candy.

NOIA is set to perform at Remezcla’s Shattering Stereotypes showcase on Thursday, March 16 at Karma Lounge. For more info and to RSVP, click here.
