Ecuadorian-Lithuanian DJ Riobamba is here to slay every month of 2018. The newest member of the Discwoman crew, who recently announced a performance at this year’s Panorama Festival, has partnered with frequent collaborator and Que Bajo alum Uproot Andy to bring their Bien Buena party out of the club and to the airwaves through Red Bull Radio. Under the slogan “préndelo pero apréndelo,” their new monthly show is set to explore every corner of the urbano universe in Latin America and the Caribbean, plus its connections to NYC, diving deep into the movement’s origins, scenes, and leading figures. The show will explore genres like cumbia, Latin trap, baile funk, champeta, plena, and, of course, reggaeton and dembow, and you’ll hear the latest bangers, all-time classics, and a whole lot more.

As the perfect sneak peek of what Bien Buena is all about, Riobamba and Uproot Andy remixed one of Daddy Yankee’s earliest recordings, dating all the way back to 1992. The one-shot recording is from DJ Playero’s Playero 37, the quintessential mixtape many consider the starting point of reggaeton. “Baby Yankee” mutates just like the genre has throughout its history, from its dancehall origins to an avant-garde production style. The pair threads these sounds together without breaking a sweat, and they let Yankee’s untamed rap loose, dangerously setting off sparks with a blast of high-octane dance floor fuel.

If you’re in New York, make sure you join the Bien Buena celebration with a bash at Brooklyn’s Lovers Rock tonight, featuring sets by the two hosts, for free. Peep the deets here.

Riobamba and Uproot Andy’s Bien Buena premieres on Red Bull Radio today at 4 p.m. EST/1 p.m. PSTListen live here.
