Twisted Texas Reggaeton Soars With Santa Muerte’s New Generation Bass Mix

Texas continues to surge as a Latin bass capital, as showcased by the new Generation Bass mix from Austin and Houston-based tandem Santa Muerte. Sines and Panchitron‘s forward-thinking selections trend toward the dark, heavy, and powerful, tapping into a plethora of tempos and genres, including tribal guarachero, dembow, drum and bass, and more. Highlights include Anakta’s swirling dancehall-meets-dembow edit of Omulu, Comrade, and Nestor en Bloque’s “PUM Mami,” and Santa Muerte’s own swirling, grooving, yet off-kilter King Doudou collaboration “Trembla.” For pop culture purposes, False Witness contributes his clubby ballroom take on Migos’ “Bitch Dab,” while Tali’s Spanish-language remix of Drake and Future’s single “Jumpman” closes out the collection. This mix definitely is worth more than a single spin.
