Pedropiedra’s New Video Is A Whimsical, Spaghetti Western Tribute to Jorge González

We all love a great ballad, especially when it’s an homage to the Chilean rock god and ex-frontman for Los Prisioneros, Jorge González.

After his 2013 release Emanuel, Pedropiedra is back again with his first single “La Balada de J. González,” from his upcoming album set to be released in the fall. A couple weeks back, the Chilean artist served up the audio for us, and now he’s at it again with the visuals. The video was directed by the co-creator of the children’s puppet show 31 minutos and longtime collaborator Alvaro Diaz.

In this comical clip reminiscent of a Spaghetti Western, Pedropiedra immerses viewers into the perilous desert. There are heavy Latin American elements in this video, from the Peruvian fur rugs to the Andean flute that his bassist Jorge Delaselva is playing. “La Balada de J. González” offers us a visual journey through the treacherous terrain with Pedropiedra, and we should definitely take it.
