The first two snare hits of Chilean producer Imaabs‘ new track instantly scream “dembow.” But wait. Sped-up dembow? Bubbling? What is this? It doesn’t even matter, because right before you know it, the beat gets in your muscles and makes your body move. “Voy” is the first preview off Imaabs upcoming NAAFI EP called Distancia.
The seamless mixture of electronic genres that is “Voy” ends up sounding a lot like an eerie take on Venezuelan changa tuki, with cold elements from worldwide bass music like grime, reggaeton, and rave. It’s as dark and austere as any other Imaabs track, and we’re feeling it.
