You know you’re a damn good artist and singer when none other than QUEEN BEY herself (bow down) personally selects you as the opening act for her show in San Juan, Puerto Rico. That specific honor goes to singer Calma Carmona who will eventually rise to “needs-no-introduction” levels a la Mrs. Carter.
Her latest is a cover of “Ain’t Got No/I Got Life” by legendary jazz singer/songwriter/performer Nina Simone who also needs no introduction (are you sensing a pattern here?). It’s the first single off her upcoming debut LP Girl On A Bridge and it gives Simone’s classic number a Caribbean bomba y plena twist.
