Ahead of the Mexico-Germany match, Eugenio Derbez decided to crash the Telemundo pre-game show. Dressed in a Chivas jersey, Eugenio interrupted the segment. Though they asked Derbez questions, a security guard then tried to escort him out. Miguel Gurwitz tried to stop the security guard, but eventually, the man carried the comedian off the set.

The whole thing confused people. Some didn’t know who he was. Others wondered if it was a skit. And still others thought Eugenio was drunk.

Turns out, Eugenio crashed Telemundo’s coverage on a dare as his character, Barnaby. On Instagram stories, he polled his followers on whether he should show up unannounced as his son, Vadhir, egged him on. The result was a lot of bewildered viewers.
