Javier Aquino Seriously Injures Luis Garrido in CONCACAF World Cup Qualifier Game

Fuck. It’s hard to find words to describe the terrible injury sustained by Honduran player Luis Garrido in the 2018 World Cup Qualifier game against Mexico. After Javier Aquino was fouled, he fell on Garrido’s knee with the side of his body, fracturing the Honduran player in that terrible, painful-to-watch way.

CONCACAF qualifier games in Honduras are known for being frisky, but this is definitely out of the ordinary. The injury reminds us of the similarly awful one suffered by Mexican player Luis Montes just before the 2014 World Cup.

It’s part of the job, I guess, but fuck. Hopefully the Houston Dynamo midfielder recovers soon, so he can once again play the beautiful game.
