When the pandemic began, social media was pondering how many people would take this time in lock down to use it as a launchpad for creativity. While surviving the past year is an accomplishment itself, many of us have also succeeded in bringing some of our ideas to life, such as Cardi B.
The rapper announced on her social media platforms that she is releasing a collaborative fashion line with Reebok called “The Summertime Fine Collection.”
“I’m so happy to be releasing my first collection with Reebok,” the Grammy winner says via a press release. “I drew a lot of my inspiration from growing up in New York in the Nineties–I used those moments as inspiration to make beautiful clothes for women today.”
The collection includes athleisure wear and accessories for women and kids that take inspiration from ’90s East Coast club styles, beach workouts and the Coney Island boardwalk. The clothing line is an extension of the Bronx native’s ongoing partnership with the footwear brand and will be available in inclusive sizes ranging from 2XS to 4X. The line previously included the launch of two footwear styles: the Club C Cardi and Club C Double sneakers.
According to Reebok, they worked hand-in-hand with Cardi B through the full creation cycle, and it’s apparent when you compare the look of the line, to some of Cardi B’s throwback photos.
As fans started to notice similarities to some of the chart topper’s previous looks, Cardi B quote-tweeted a side-by-side and asked, “Which one is ya favorite red & black photo?”
One piece, a black crop top sweater, with black leggings and red trim was also very familiar to fans.
“Same chick. Different money,” she responded.
The Summertime Fine Collection will be available to purchase alongside matching footwear colorways of the Cardi B Club C , available in women’s and kid sizes, at 10am ET April 23 on Reebok.com.
