When it comes to collaborating with fellow rappers, Cardi B always seems to be game – until now. Although she’s recorded with several artists over the years like Megan Thee Stallion, Bad Bunny, and J Balvin, the Grammy Award winner seemed to get a kick out of telling rapper, comedian, and actor David Burd, best known by his stage name Lil Dicky, that she wasn’t interested in performing with him on Super Bowl Sunday (February 13).

Since he wasn’t invited to participate in the football game’s halftime festivities, Lil Dicky is set to perform a “Quartertime Show” live on Twitter between the first and second quarters of the Super Bowl. In a teaser video he recently posted about the upcoming performance, Lil Dicky explains that he’s “always wanted to perform at the halftime show” and will now “take the power into my own hands.”

Cardi makes a cameo in the video when Lil Dicky calls her up to confirm that she will be joining him for the “interesting, innovative” and uniquely timed concert on social media. Although he refers to Cardi as the “perfect partner,” she wants nothing to do with his planned online concert.

“So, are you down to perform at the Quartertime Show with me,” Lil Dicky asks Cardi over Facetime. Sitting in a dressing room filled with flowers and strawberries and spraying some of her vodka-infused whip cream onto a dessert, Cardi lets him down gently. But not really.

“Um, no,” Cardi says before laughing at him for even asking. “Absolutely not.” Lil Dicky responds a bit embarrassed with getting turned down. “We’re shooting a commercial right now, and I thought this was already ironed out,” he says before Cardi hangs up on him with a final rejection.

Of course, the advertising spot was all fun and games, so Lil Dicky could tease his solo show. Unless things change in the next few days, Cardi won’t be appearing with him online, but that doesn’t mean her superfans can’t imagine how fun it would be to have Cardi B rapping at the big game. There’s always next year.
