Over the weekend, Chris Pérez got to relive some tender moments he had onstage with Selena y Los Dinos, and it’s all thanks to the late singer’s fans.

On Saturday, the musician posted a photo on Facebook of him playing the guitar near La Reina de Tejano dancing in a glittery green jumpsuit. The image, apparently, was first shared by a Selena enthusiast.

“Sometimes I come across some fan pics and it feels like this all happened a whole other lifetime ago…on a whole other planet. No matter what though, I’m always grateful that I got to share moments like this with her, the band and especially her fans,” the guitarist-songwriter wrote alongside the photo.

Pérez joined Selena y Los Dinos in 1989 and married the Tejana star in 1992. On March 31, just a month away from celebrating their three-year wedding anniversary, Selena was murdered by her fan club president Yolanda Saldívar.

Since Selena’s passing, Pérez, who married, had two children and was later divorced, has had other musical projects, including the Chris Pérez Band and, most recently, the Chris Pérez Project. In 2012, he published the book To Selena, With Love, which shared details about the couple’s relationship, including their struggles.

While it has been 24 years since his late wife died, he expressed “gratitude” to her fans for keeping her legacy alive.

“[Fans] who continue to love her and pass that love on down to the younger generations, you guys kick major a**,” he said.
