Christian Nodal has added another tattoo to his face. This time, the ink was inspired by an indigenous group known as Comcaac from the Mexican state of Sonora.

Nodal’s new tattoo is a set of six red, inverted triangles that go in a line across the bridge of his nose. Before he got the tattoo, Nodal met with indigenous artist Mina Barnett, who painted some temporary designs across his face before one of Nodal’s concerts.

“Last night, I had the joy of meeting the famous regional Mexican singer Christian Nodal, to give him the traditional Comcaac face paint at his request before going on stage,” Barnett said. “The face paint that he wears means protection for the warriors. The interpretation I gave him when making this design was to wish him well for all the projects in his life. My experience meeting Christian Nodal was very nice since he treats you with great respect and warmth.”

Although not the exact designs that Barnett painted on Nodal, it’s obvious the Mexican singer liked them enough to get the same type of style for his tattoo.

While Nodal continues to add tattoos to his body, he’s also been covering up others, too – specifically those tied to his ex-fiancée Belinda. In April, Nodal revealed that he had covered up the massive tattoo he had on his chest of Belinda’s eyes.

He also covered up the word “Utopia,” the name of Belinda’s second studio album, on his forehead, and the word “Beli” he had near his right ear.
