With the papel picado on the insole and the stitching throughout reminiscent of bright orange cempasuchil, the sneakers are a subtle nod to Día de Muertos. Add in that the shoes are the Nike Cortez, aka a beloved Mexican-American wardrobe staple, and it seems like the brand really thought through its upcoming homage to the Latin American holiday.

This wouldn’t be the first Día de Muertos-inspired Cortez, but this one is a more restrained iteration. The shoe is mostly black with white Swooshes (with calavera details) and orange details throughout. (Though a few potential issues are that the orange and black feels a little Halloween-ish and Día de Muertos has nothing to do with tricotri and that many feel the holiday has been commercialized.)

The shoe is reportedly set to drop in stores and online at the end of the month.
