For about two months, Doña Angela, 69, has captivated audiences with her cooking videos. The charming abuela from Michoacan runs De mi Rancho a Tu Cocina on YouTube, where she makes everything from mole de rancho to bistec con nopales. In a short amount of time, she has garnered more than 1.5 million subscribers, and just recently, she received official recognition from YouTube.

As she shared in her latest video, Doña Angela has earned a Gold Creator Award, which is a gold-plated brass award that is given to those YTers who have more than 1 million followers. She simultaneously received the Silver Play Button for reaching 100,000 subscribers.

“Thanks to you I’ve gotten to where I am,” she said in her unboxing video. “Because you have supported me, you’ve helped me and thank you to my daughters, who have also helped me a lot… I hope you continue to support me.”

Doña Angela, who sources ingredients from her own ranch, has resonated with many, who say she reminds them of the women in their own families. Check out the sweet video above and here’s hoping she wins all the awards.
