Lin-Manuel Miranda & Lea Salonga Singing “A Whole New World” From ‘Aladdin’ is Everything

Lin-Manuel Miranda isn’t just a genius, he’s a genuinely nice guy. His broadway show Hamilton is so wildly successful right now that tickets are sold out through May, and prices are through the roof. So naturally, crowds are showing up for the slim chance they might get lottery tickets on standby. To make the wait bearable, Miranda has made sure that even if people don’t win a ticket, they still get to see a show, by enlisting his cast and creative team to serenade waiting crowds with his “Ham 4 Ham” pre-show performances, which often feature special guests.

This week, Miranda brought out Lea Salonga – who did the voice of Jasmine in the Aladdin movie –  to sing “A Whole New World” aka a karaoke wet dream. And maybe I should be focusing on Miranda, but Salonga was pure fire.

First, she surprised Miranda with a Taglish song he wrote to win over an ex-girlfriend, and then, when she sang “A Whole New World,” she sounded exactly the same as she did back in 1992 when the movie came out.

Miranda was as ? as I was:

I tried to figure out what this meant in Tagalog. This is the best I could do.
