It can certainly be frustrating realizing that the special you wanted to take advantage of at a restaurant isn’t valid that day. But it shouldn’t drive you to make racist comments and threats.

But this is what happened at Palapas Tacos in Anaheim when an unnamed man became belligerent after he learned he couldn’t get his $2 fish taco special, available only on Friday, as advertised throughout the restaurant in both Spanish and English. (The sign outside only said “Especial de Viernes,” but inside the day was printed in both languages.)

Owner Juan del Rio said he realized something was happening after he heard the man yelling. “I hear all this screaming,” he told Fox 11. “So I’m like, ‘What’s going on?’ This customer, I found out, he was not understanding the special being Friday instead of Monday.”

He was caught on tape loudly complaining about the Spanish words on the menu. “That’s bullshit!” he said. ‘It says it in Mexican. We’re not in Mexico. We’re in America! Above the border. The red, the line. I’m an American!”

Del Rio said that this isn’t the first time there’s been a misunderstanding with the menu, but that people do not get as upset as this man did. Once the man left, del Rio followed him outside to talk to him, but the man started saying hateful comments, which del Rio recorded. After the owner asked the man who he was going to call, the man said, “Immigration! Because you’re not legal!”
