Latin Grammy-winning, Puerto Rican musician Ozuna announced Wednesday (April 7) that he has joined gaming organization XSET as a managing partner. This makes the singer, known for being featured on “Taki Taki,” the first Latino artist to own an esports team.

“I’ve always loved gaming and with the worldwide explosion of gaming culture, it was important for me to be one of the first movers – both from an ownership perspective and on the talent side,” says Ozuna. “The mixture of music and gaming is only going to get bigger and together with XSET, I’m happy to be leading the way.”

XSET CEO and co-founder Greg Selkoe says he was interested in partnering with Ozuna and his team because of what he called a “multi-pronged approach to business” that would take the company to the next level.

“Beyond Ozuna’s incredible musical talent, his vitality, exuberance for life and desire to bring his love of gaming to global Latin culture makes him an ideal embodiment of XSET’s ethos,” says Selkoe. “We are so honored and pleased Ozuna has chosen XSET as his team and gaming family.”

Ozuna and XSET say they are excited to leverage Ozuna’s portfolio, including his ties to the music, business and fashion industries. “XSET continues to live up to its reputation as the fastest growing gaming org in history, and this partnership will no doubt exponentially accelerate the pace of that growth,” says Ozuna manager Edgar Andino. “We are excited for what is to come.”

Since breaking into the music industry in 2012, Ozuna has become one of the best-selling Latin music artists of all time with albums like 2017’s Odisea, 2018’s Aura, 2019’s Nibiru and last year’s ENOC. His most recent album, Los Dioses, which is a collaboration between him and Anuel AA, was released in January 2021.
