Selena Gomez has launched a new platform and this one is all about mental health. Gomez, along with her mother Mandy Teefey, as well as her friend and CEO of Newsette, Daniella Pierson have come together to form Wondermind. The newly created space where a supportive community can gather and help those struggling with depression or anxiety by having candid conversations with one another.

“I’m so excited about Wondermind because I want there to be a place of people coming together and understanding that they are not alone,” says Gomez in a welcome video posted on the Wondermind website.

In a message, also on the site, the women said, “We’ve each had our own mental health struggles, and we realized there was no inclusive, fun, and easy place where people could come together to explore, discuss, and navigate their feelings. So we created it. Welcome to Wondermind.”

It was back in 2016 that Gomez revealed that she was suffering from anxiety and depression. This came after the actress/singer was diagnosed with Lupus. Gomez announced she would be taking a break from music so she could focus on her mental health. She did just that. Fast forward to now and Wondermind is the result of that introspection.

Gomez has gathered the tools that have helped her cope, along with help from mental health advocates, and created the new platform. And it bets its success on three main areas. The first is practice – because you wouldn’t expect to have one workout to make you fit, it takes practice, the same is true for your mental health.  The second area is using the right tools and includes journaling. And finally having conversations.

And we’re ready to see how Gomez and her team bring this to life to help those like us who could all use a little helping hand when it comes to our mental health.
