If helping incite an insurrectionist mob of white supremacists to attack the U.S. Capitol wasn’t enough of a bad way to start 2021 for Senator Ted Cruz, the Texas Republican added to his fails this week on Twitter.

First, Cruz, who is a graduate of Princeton and Harvard, posted a statement about President Joe Biden rejoining the Paris Climate Agreement. The tweet made little sense to anyone with a fifth-grade education much less someone who graduated from two Ivy League universities.

“President Biden indicates he’s more interested in the views of the citizens of Paris than in the jobs of the citizens of Pittsburgh,” Cruz wrote.

Twitter users were quick to point out that the Paris Climate Agreement has absolutely nothing to do with the “citizens of Paris.” The Paris Climate Agreement is an international treaty on climate change that Donald Trump withdrew the United States from during his tenure.

The jokes came in droves as people wondered if Cruz also believed that the Geneva Conventions only applied to citizens of Geneva, Switzerland, and if the John Lewis Voting Rights Act was only about John Lewis’ voting rights.

Someone better give Cruz a quick review about the finer points of the climate crisis. Maybe that will help him avoid getting dragged on Twitter by people who know way more about the subject than he does.

After Cruz’s gaffe on climate change, the hits kept on coming as actor Seth Rogen (Knocked Up) joined the fun by tweeting the Senator with a few choice words.

Cruz attempted to criticize Rogen by calling him a “rich, angry Hollywood celebrity,” but Rogen wasn’t in any mood for a debate.

Maybe if Rogen chose to insult Cruz’s wife like Trump did back in 2016, Cruz could get a cameo role in the next Judd Apatow comedy. Or maybe in the upcoming prequel to The Lion King. Has anyone been cast as the spineless grub yet?
