From Racist Babies to Identifying As Asian: Here’s Why Sen. Ted Cruz is Getting Dragged Online

Ted Cruz is once again in the spotlight and getting dragged by the internet because of it.

During the confirmation hearings for Supreme Court nominee Ketanji Brown Jackson, Cruz, who represents the state of Texas, used his questions to harp on some key conservative points, and presumably rally his base.

First, Cruz, while grilling Jackson on critical race theory, described a children’s book called “Antiracist Baby,” which led him to ask the Harvard-educated judge if she believed babies were racist. Not content with that line of thought, Cruz then went on to remember he was a Hispanic man, just as he asked Jackson if he could identify as Asian, if he so wanted.

The question came as a follow-up to Jackson’s comments the day before that she couldn’t define what a woman is because she’s not a biologist. Cruz, never one to miss the opportunity to simplify a very complicated matter for the sake of getting publicity, just skipped over the nuance and went on with his absurd line of questioning.

As always, the internet had a lot of feelings about Cruz, and none of them are favorable.

From the very valid commentary on how Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson had to keep her composure even while Cruz’s questions got more and more absurd.

 

 

To just straight pointing out how Cruz only seems to be Hispanic when it’s convenient.

 

And, of course, just looking for some publicity.
