On Tuesday (September 13), Cardi B returned to her old stomping grounds in the Bronx to bring the students, faculty, and staff at her former middle school a big surprise.

Dressed in an all-red bodysuit, Cardi B rolled into I.S. 232 to let the kids know she was donating $100,000 to the school. She also took some time to share some words of inspiration by explaining to students how important it is to think about the big picture as they get older.

“A couple of years from now…make sure you think long term,” Cardi said, adding that even the “little quick decisions” a person makes can impact their lives.

“Wow, this is absolutely incredible!” one Twitter user posted. “Kudos to Cardi for donating to her former school and supporting these kids!”

Another was happy to see the star using her platform to do something positive for her community. “If this isn’t a great example of using one’s fame and fortune to make an impact, I don’t know what else is!” they posted.

Cardi B seems to always have the Bronx in her heart. Earlier this year, she pledged to pay the funeral expenses for all the victims of a fire that happened inside the 19-story Twin Parks apartment building. A faulty space heater started the fire, which killed 17 people, including eight children. It was the deadliest fire in New York City in 30 years.

A man, who lost five family members in the fire, called Cardi B “an angel” and thanked her for everything she did. “For you to step up and do what you did for us at this time, all I could do is pray to Allah for you,” he said. “May Allah give you all your wishes and grant you everything in this world.”
