What’s next for the King of Bachata Romeo Santos? Did I hear bring “el sentimiento” to the Today Show? Sure, why not? At this point he’s crossed off pretty much everything else from his bucket list.

A few weeks ago Romeo Santos surprised his legions of “Romeistas” by announcing that he’d be performing on NBC’s Today Show. Once the news broke out, my Facebook Feed shifted from the typical pet, babies, and other types of visual spam to a Romeopalooza. As a born again fan who witnessed my fellow countryman’s prowess in white pants last summer, I couldn’t miss the chance to see him live again. Unless, of course, there was a surprise performance by Fefita La Grande at the same time in which case all bets would have been off.

B Day (B for bachata) arrived this morning and Rockefeller Plaza was packed with many many many many young faces. I can pretty much guarantee that half of the tristate area’s high schools were empty this morning. At 7:30am Romeo stepped out to warm our souls with the sounds and feeling of bachata. The enthusiastic crowd acted as back-up vocalists to hits such as “Hilito,” “Necio,” and “Cancioncita de Amor” from Romeo’s remarkable repertoire, and even Hoda was hitting some bachata moves. The screams are still ringing in my ears.

Shout out to the “Romeistas” that camped out through the night and Romeo Santo’s manager Johnny Mariñes for bringing hot chocolate and doughnuts to help them stay warm.

Just In: Cough up that income tax return money because Romeo Santos is adding a third night (7/12) at Barclays Center in Brooklyn and a second night (6/21) at AmericanAirlines Arena in Miami. Tickets go on-sale tomorrow, 4/28 at 10:00pm ET via Ticketmaster.
