Actress Anya Taylor-Joy (The Northman) looks like a perfect fit for the post-apocalyptic hellscape she will inhabit as the title character in Furiosa. The film is the prequel to the 2015 action flick Mad Max: Fury Road.

The behind-the-scenes photos that recently dropped online aren’t the best quality, but it’s evident that it’s Taylor-Joy on the set with other crew members and at least one other actor, who is also in costume. In both images, we see the Argentine-British actress with disheveled brown hair and wearing brown pants and a shirt covered in dirt and what looks like fake blood.

The right sleeve of her shirt goes down to her forearm and the left one only covers a bit past her shoulder. Her left hand and arm are also covered in a neon green glove, presumably for the computer-generated effects that will be incorporated during post-production to give her character a prosthetic arm like the one actress Charlize Theron sports in Fury Road.

Taylor-Joy is accompanied on the outdoor set by another actor carrying some type of chrome-looking weapon and dressed like a henchman who probably serves as one of the film’s main villains.

Directed by George Miller (Mad Max: Fury Road), Furiosa tells the story of the future war captain kidnapped by a tyrant who later battles for dominance with The Immortan Joe. During this time, Furiosa looks for a way to escape her captors and get back home.

Before Furiosa hits theaters on May 24, 2024, Anya Taylor-Joy will be seen and heard in a handful of films over the next year, including Amsterdam, The Menu, and as the voice of Princess Peach in the untitled Super Mario Bros. movie.
