Oscar-winning actress Ariana DeBose (West Side Story) might have a few film projects on her plate over the next couple of years, but it looks like she wants some time on the small screen, too.

There were quite a few fans of the HBO sci-fi series Westworld who were surprised when a teaser trailer for the show’s fourth season hit the web Tuesday (May 11) and revealed that DeBose would be starring in a recurring role.

While DeBose’s character (and the plot for the new season) is top secret, she will join several returning cast members on the show. This list includes fellow Latina star Tessa Thompson, Evan Rachel Wood, Thandiwe Newton, Jeffrey Wright, Ed Harris, Aaron Paul, and others. The last episode of the third season of Westworld aired on HBO on May 3, 2020.

At the 44-second mark in the teaser trailer, DeBose is shown standing in a restaurant/bar behind Wood’s character Dolores Abernathy. In a first-look photo for Deadline, DeBose is sporting short, curly, and light-brown hair and carrying two pairs of high heels.

Ariana DeBose will next be seen in the action film Argylle alongside Henry Cavill, Bryan Cranston, and Samuel L. Jackson; the intergalactic thriller I.S.S. starring Chris Messina; and the superhero flick Kraven the Hunter with Aaron Taylor-Johnson. She was also just tapped to host the 75th annual Tony Awards.

The eight-episode fourth season of Westworld premieres June 26, 2022, on HBO and HBO Max.
