It’s been a year since audiences were introduced to diablero (devil-hunter) Elvis Infante, played by Horacio García Rojas, and his gang in the series Diablero. The season one finale introduced plenty for future installments while neatly wrapping up what had been introduced, but we wanted more. Thankfully, Netflix has announced when you can see the long-awaited second season and it’s sooner than you think.

The end of the month will bring season two onto the streaming giant. The first season consisted of eight episodes so it’s safe to assume season two will have the same number. There’s been no reveal of the plot nor any new characters Elvis and crew might encounter.

Based on the book El diablo me obligó by F.G. Haghenbeck, the Spanish-language take on Supernatural’s monster-of-the-week format saw Elvis, alongside Father Ramiro Ventura (Christopher von Uckermann), the mystical Nancy (Gisselle Kuri), and the forlorn Keta (Fátima Molina) work like hell, pun intended, to stop all manner of demons from taking over humanity. Along the way, we learned about Elvis’ history entering the diablero business as well as Ramiro’s struggles to maintain his faith with what he knows.

Diablero season two comes on the heels of several other Spanish-language and U.S.-set Latino series getting release dates. Several weeks ago it was announced that the latest season of La Casa de Papel would be premiering in April. They’re also hot at work on the upcoming Selena series starring Walking Dead actress Christian Serratos and the bilingual comedy Gentefied.

The streaming service doesn’t release ratings or metrics but it’s safe to assume enough people watched Diablero season one, alongside the network’s other Spanish-language shows, to situate it as a solid investment. Diablero is a show that might seem a bit messy narratively, and the effects aren’t always fantastic, but the cast is wonderful and the series is a lot of fun.

Diablero season 2 hits Netflix January 31, 2020.
