Wait, Could an ‘Encanto’ Disney Park Attraction Be a Thing?!

If you’ve ever been to any of the Disney theme parks, you know that many of their attractions are very realistic. From the animatronic Beauty and the Beast characters to the world of Pandora from the sci-fi film Avatar, going to Disney World or Disneyland is an incredibly magical experience.

It would only make sense, then, to use some of that Disney magic to bring to life the sights and sounds of their latest film, the Oscar-nominated animated musical Encanto. Specifically, how amazing would it be to recreate the Encanto Casita as an attraction that Disney guests could actually walk into?

It’s one of the ideas Oscar-nominated Encanto songwriter and Broadway superstar Lin-Manuel Miranda has talked about with Disney CEO Bob Chapek. During an interview with The Wrap, Miranda brought up some of the ideas he had if Encanto were to expand its franchise.

“I talked to [Chapek] and said, ‘I know there’s a world in which this Casita lives in a theme park, and we get to actually walk through it in real life,’” Miranda said. “And that’s really exciting.”

Miranda added that although that could be one idea to consider, he’s not sure what a full-on Encanto expansion would look like. Last week, Chapek referred to the animated film as “the launch of a new franchise.”

“I don’t know what form that takes,” Miranda said. “I don’t know if that’s an animated series. I don’t know if that’s a second movie. I don’t know if that’s a stage adaptation where we have a little more time to go deep. I think it’s all possible, but we had no conversations about what they actually are.”

He added: “It’s like, I want to go in and out of this Casita and see those characters and see the house respond because that’s something Disney can do that no one else can do.”

If a real Casa Madrigal is built at a Disney property, we’ll be the first in line to slide down the magical staircase. And we’re sure Isabela will keep the house beautiful with all her colorful flowers. Don’t forget about the capybaras either.
