Gina Rodriguez and Elmo Rapping the ABCs en Español Is the Cutest Thing You’ll See This Week

It’s never a bad idea to catch up on your Spanish ABCs from time to time. Especially if you’re still counting ll and ch as distinct letters (tip: the RAE got rid of ‘em back in 2010.) And what better way to do that then with the cutest, most lovable creature on the planet – and an assist from Elmo?

Yes, Sesame Street recently continued upon 47 years of keeping it real with a dose of Gina Rodriguez being her adorable self as she raps the ABCs en español. Accompanied by a funky, syncopated bassline laid thick over a golden-age break beat, Miss Gina pops and shimmies her way through the Spanish alphabet not once, but twice for our viewing pleasure. Linguistic super-genius Elmo then hops on board for the second go-round after he apparently learns Spanish over the course of 15 seconds, and things get even cuter.

With her guest appearance, Rodriguez follows in a long tradition of Latino stars on Sesame Street, including Raúl Juliá and Sonia Manzano, who have brought a unique bilingual flair to the show’s educational programming. Rodriguez’s episode will air in its entirety on Saturday at 9 a.m. EST on HBO.
