Attention Patrick and Richie Fans: The ‘Looking’ Movie Has A Premiere Date

Remember when we were crushed by the fact that HBO had cancelled Looking after its stellar second season and how we were hopeful that the wrap-up movie we were promised might give us the Richie/Patrick reunion we’d dreamed about? Well, we don’t have to wait much longer. The Andrew Haigh and Michael Lannan-written film is coming to HBO on Saturday July 23rd, following its premiere at Frameline, the San Francisco International LGBTQ Film Festival in late June.

In the film, Patrick (Jonathan Groff, a Tony nominee this year for Hamilton) returns to San Francisco for the first time in almost a year to celebrate a momentous event with his old friends, which include peri-peri entrepreneur Dom (Murray Bartlett) and artist Agustín (Frankie J. Alvarez). In the process, he must face the unresolved relationships he left behind and make difficult choices about what’s important to him. Might Patrick’s old flame, Richie (played by Raúl Castillo) factor into these difficult decisions?

You have to admit, seeing those last moments of the two of them together in the season two closer at Richie’s barbershop made you root for them. And after Haigh’s masterful 45 Years last year, we have high hopes for this HBO movie to be the third season we sadly never got. ?
