Although her professional career as an actress only started about four years ago, Isabella Ferreira already knows exactly what she wants to achieve in Hollywood.

“For anything I want to do in life I want it to have a purpose,” Ferreira tells Remezcla. In Love, Victor, Ferreira said she has found a TV series that has “meaning in this world.” Now, in its second season, the coming-of-age teen drama continues following its title character, Victor Salazar (Michael Cimino), as he navigates his coming-out story. Spoiler alert for those who haven’t seen the first season: Victor reveals to his parents (Ana Ortiz and James Martinez) in the last episode that he is gay.

“To have a show like this that we didn’t have growing up and for it to be that show for teenagers watching today is amazing,” Ferreira said.

In the series, Ferreira plays Victor’s angsty and confident younger sister Pilar, who has her own set of issues to deal with at home and school. It’s one of the reasons Ferreira said Love, Victor is a TV series for a wide audience.

“It deals with multiple topics, not just for the LGBTQ+ community,” she says. “It deals with the Latinx household, single-parent household, marital issues and anxiety. There’s a bunch of things that unravel. I think everyone can take at least one thing from it.”

Ferreira said she hopes a series like Love, Victor will allow Latinx families to be more open about talking to each other about taboo subjects like identity and sexuality. “It’s incredible and it’s long overdue,” she asserts. “Being able to bring that up in conversation is very amazing. I’m very proud to be a part of it.”

Season 2 of Love, Victor premieres on Hulu June 11.
