Jennifer Lopez is returning to both the big screen and the small screen. Variety reports that the actress, producer and all-around entertainer has inked a deal with Netflix to partner with her Nuyorican Production Company. Under the deal, Lopez will reportedly produce a slate of scripted and unscripted projects for content in both movies and television.

Lopez shared the news on social media with the caption “Lets Go [Netflix]!!! The best is yet to come…”

Two projects, titled The Mother and The Cipher, have already been announced. The Mother already has Lopez in training for the role as a deadly assassin mother who comes out of hiding in order to teach her daughter how to survive. It is currently in pre-production and is set for a fall 2022 release. The second project, The Cipher, is based on the book of the same name by Isabel Ojeda; it’s the story of an FBI agent who is hunted by a serial killer. Jennifer Lopez will take on the lead for this role as well.

The deal also includes Lopez’s longtime business associate Benny Medina and Nuyorican President Elaine Goldsmith-Thomas.

“I am excited to announce my new partnership with Netflix. Elaine, Benny and I believe there is no better home for us than a forward-leaning content creation company that seeks to defy conventional wisdom and directly market to the millions across the globe who no longer view art and entertainment with the kind of boundaries and limitations of the past,” Lopez said in a statement to Variety.

In the meantime, Lopez has two projects set to release soon. First up is Shotgun Wedding which wrapped filming in April just as Lopez and fiance Alex Rodriguez called off their engagement. That movie is due to hit theaters on June 29 and stars Josh Duhmal. Marry Me,starring Owen Wilson is due next Valentine’s Day 2022.
