Actress Michelle Rodriguez (F9) brings the brawn in the first trailer for the medieval fantasy film Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves. Based on a tabletop role-playing game first released in 1974, the upcoming movie features Rodriguez alongside actors Chris Pine (Wonder Woman 1984), Regé-Jean Page (Bridgerton), Sophia Lillis (It), and Hugh Grant (The Gentlemen).
During the D&D panel at San Diego Comic-Con, Rodriguez shared with attendees that she gained 10 lbs. of muscle while training for the movie with “lots of working out, lots of protein shakes, lots of gas, lots of push-ups, lots of sit-ups, lots of lifting weights.”
Her hard work paid off, as we can see in the trailer, which debuted during Comic-Con on Thursday (July 21). We are introduced to Rodriguez’s currently unnamed character, a member of a group of thieves seen stealing a golden helmet with ease. “When you do this, you’re bound to make enemies,” Pine’s character says. “Sometimes those enemies come looking for revenge.”
It appears that Rodriguez and her crew, as Pine puts it, have “helped the wrong person steal the wrong thing” and now have “unleashed the greatest evil the world has ever known.” So, what’s the plan to fix their mistake? Whatever it is, Rodriguez would rather “figure it out over a drink.” We’re guessing she’ll chug something like a pint of mead.
Later, we see Rodriguez wielding a battle ax and fighting a bunch of knights inside a castle. Her other team members bring their skills and traits, including courage, magic, and the ability to transform into a fluffy creature known as an owlbear. They’re going to need as much firepower as possible to stand a chance at destroying all the dragons flying around this fantasy world.
Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves will premiere in theaters on March 3, 2023.
