It’s been a year since audiences last saw maestro Rodrigo de Souza (Gael García Bernal) and his band of colorful characters at the New York Symphony in Mozart in the Jungle. Thankfully, audiences won’t have to wait too much longer for the return of the Golden Globe-winning series as a new trailer has dropped showcasing what’s in store for Rodrigo and company.

From the looks of things the relationship between Bernal’s Rodrigo and talented oboist Hailey (Lola Kirke) is on a somewhat even keel after their kiss at the end season three, though it looks like Rodrigo is taking the term “boyfriend” a bit too seriously. We see Hailey’s career on the rise as she struggles to navigate how it will play out with her personal relationship with Rodrigo. She’s presented with an opportunity to conduct an orchestra in Japan, putting added pressure on her personally. As for himself, Rodrigo can’t “feel” the music as he once used to. Will this lead to questions of whether the two can balance their personal goals with their romantic ones? Audiences will also see more of Bernadette Peters’ symphony president Gloria Windsor as she attempts to keep Malcolm McDowell’s conductor, Thomas Pembridge, interested in her. Though based on seeing that smooch between McDowell and another man, she might be fighting a losing battle?

Much of this season will take place in Japan as it focuses on Hailey’s attempt to win a conducting competition, and the trailer certainly includes scenes of colorful locales and gardens as Rodrigo and Hailey move outside their New York confines.

Season four of Mozart in the Jungle hits Amazon Prime on February 16, 2018.
