“It’s a new America for Latinos.” Those words are spoken by Jennifer Lopez in a new promotion video for Pa’lante!, the new initiative from HBO Max aimed at creating a home for the Latin community. Pa’lante! (“Forward” in English), a decade in the making, will collaborate and tell stories by Latinos for Latinos.

Several projects are in the works with Latino stars attached. Pa’Lante Pa’Mi will be a recurring editorial series aimed at explaining what “forward” means to each featured guest. So far comedian Aida Rodriguez, Jesse y Joy, Orishas’ Youtel Romero, and Angel Manuek Soto have been named. Comedian and actress Cristela Alonzo is lending her talent to the series as well. The actress shared an animated promo video, illustrated by Puerto Rican D’ana Nuñez, that she voiced in support of the launch.

“Pa’lante is about refusing to be who we were supposed to be.”

Later this month, HBO Max will celebrate the launch of Pa’lante with a virtual event that includes musical performances and panels. The new initiative by HBO Max will not replace the existing HBO Latino, rather it will be in addition to and act as a supplement to bringing broader attention to it’s programming for Latinos.

In addition to it’s programming, Pa’lante! is teaming up with Latina-led organizations for an upcoming biopic series on Isabel Allendel. She Se Puede, founded by America Ferrera and Eva Longoria, New York Latino Film Festival, and others are teaming up for the three-part celebration on the famed author. Isabel will be launched on social media and will feature Rosie Perez, Kate de Castillo, and other famous Latinas reciting Allende’s work.
