The women of Litchfield are rising up in a fit of rage and grief in the first full trailer for Orange is the New Black‘s season five. The cliffhanger at the end of last season left Daya pointing a gun at a correctional officer’s head.

In a short teaser Netflix released earlier this year, we hear a gunshot go off as the screen goes black. Did Daya shoot the gun? Did she drop it setting it off accidentally? Is a CO now dead? We still have no idea in the newest look at season five. What we do know is that a full-blown prison riot is on the horizon. The women seek justice and use the only tool an incarcerated person deprived of their liberties has: rebellion.

The spark that set them off? The tragic death of Poussey. Eerily reminiscent of Eric Garner’s killing by police officers during which he repeated “I can’t breathe,” Poussey is accidentally suffocated by a guard.

The heart-pounding trailer clues us in to the aftermath. After a call for unity across racial lines – a timely stance in the divisive Trump era – the united prisoners launch an all-out revolution. “The only way out is for us to come together,” Gloria proclaims.

It’s a protest against the deplorable conditions in which they live and comes with a list of demands. They want to be treated “like human beings” and with respect. As for concrete changes the inmates will ask for, they assemble a plenary and take suggestions from everyone. “No idea is a bad idea” until someone dreams up an anti-gravity chamber to do flips in. “OK. Some ideas are bad ideas,” Alison replies.

In real time and over the course of just three days, season five of Orange Is The New Black is poised to be its most explosive and overtly political season yet.

Orange is The New Black season five debuts Friday, June 9 on Netflix.
