For many, Oscar Isaac is already a household name. After all, he was Poe Dameron in the latest Star Wars trilogy of films and Duke Leto Atreides in the blockbuster Dune. But Isaac is about to enter a new stage of his career by joining the Disney + and Marvel family as the hero Moon Knight.

Remezcla got a chance to interview Oscar Isaac about taking on this new role and what it means to him when he thinks about a new generation basically growing up with Moon Knight as their Latine superhero. We also might’ve snuck in a question or two about Pedro Pascal and the internet’s recent love for his skirts at Moon Knight premieres.

Taking on the role of Moon Knight is monumental for our communities because we simply don’t see enough Latine superheroes out there. And Isaac understands that this will be “quite a moment” for those who have never seen someone like them on a Marvel property. And he’s also aware that kids will be playing with Moon Knight toys.

“It’s so great,” Isaac said before revealing that he already knows a kid who is playing with a Moon Knight toy: his own. “I got one of them doing that already, my own children. We’ve got a little Moon Knight toy and he loves playing with it. Both of them do, actually.”

In Moon Knight, Isaac gets to do a lot of fighting. He’s taking down creatures unlike any we’ve seen before in the MCU and he’s fighting against those who follow the villain Arthur Harrow (Ethan Hawke). But we couldn’t help wondering, after our last interview with Isaac where he called Pedro Pascal his “space sister” and “sweet girlfriend,” what would happen if Moon Knight squared up against The Mandalorian‘s Din Djarin.

He did not even hesitate for a moment before answering this question. “Well, definitely Moon Knight would win,” Isaac said while laughing, 100% sure of his character’s ability to take down Pascal’s. “And it doesn’t matter if Pedro would agree or not because that’s just a fact. You can’t argue facts.”

For our last question with Isaac, we wanted to know about his Moon Knight premiere skirts, or “falditas” as he called them. And it was clear that he was aware that it was causing a stir on the internet. “Sometimes you just gotta throw a skirt on,” Isaac explained, “For me, it wasn’t so deep. I was like ‘I like that. I’m gonna put one on.’”

He even revealed that he has a special skirt that his aunt gave him that he loves. “I even have a really nice one from Guatemala that my Aunt got me. Kind of like with all the colors. So, it’s really nice.”

Here’s hoping Oscar Isaac wears it to the next Moon Knight event.

Moon Knight premieres on Disney+ on March 30, 2022.
