When Rosario Dawson made her debut on episode 5 of The Mandalorian this season, the consensus was that Dawson’s live-action version of the beloved animated character Ahsoka Tano hit the target. Less than two weeks after etching her name into the Star Wars history books forever, Dawson will add to her geek cred with the announcement of Star Wars: Ahsoka, a limited series for Disney+.

Along with The Mandalorian and the upcoming prequel series Star Wars: Andor featuring Diego Luna as Rogue One character Cassian Andor, Star Wars: Ahsoka will be the third Latinx-led Star Wars series greenlit into the galaxy and will take place on the same timeline as The Mandalorian.
In the Star Wars universe, Ahsoka is an apprentice of Anakin Skywalker. Before Dawson’s live-action portrayal, the character only appeared in the 2008 animated film and TV show Star Wars: The Clone Wars and the animated TV series Star Wars: Rebels.
Fans of the character and of Dawson were beyond thrilled when news of the series broke Thursday (Dec. 10) during Disney’s Investor Day.

Now, Dawson will get the opportunity to expand on Ahsoka’s mythology as a live-action character. Disney didn’t confirm when Star Wars: Ahsoka would premiere but hinted that the “next chapter” would debut Christmas 2021. We promise to eat all our vegetables if you can guarantee we’ll find Rosario Dawson as Ahsoka under our tree next year.
