Shakira is joining the reality talent show circuit once again with the new NBC dance series Dancing with Myself. Each week, dancers who enjoy performing on social media platforms like TikTok will take the stage to try and impress Shakira and other celebrity judges.
“I’m excited to be a part of a dance competition that places such a high value on creative movement and how it translates into personal expression, not to mention how it contributes to a sense of community,” Shakira told Variety. “I’ve personally been blown away by some of the talent I’ve seen thanks to people having access to their own platforms through social media. Dance has been an incredibly potent force throughout my life, and I’m eager to show the world how transformative, empowering and fun it can be.”
In the series, contestants will be given a set amount of time to learn new dance routines and then perform them in front of a live audience. By the end of the night, one of the dancers will be crowned the Best Dancer of the Night and take home a cash prize.
Along with her international fame as a pop, rock, and Latin artist, Shakira, of course, is known for her talent as a dancer. Watch any number of her music videos or live performances and it’s easy to see why she can mesmerize audiences not only with her music, but with her moves – from “Waka Waka” to “Ojos Así.”
Fans online seemed excited when they learned about the new series.
Others are already predicting the show will score some serious ratings.
Shakira is no stranger to reality talent show competitions. She was a coach and mentor during two seasons on The Voice.
