With about eight months left until the release of Star Wars: The Last Jedi, it’s about time for the Disney promotional machine to start up for what will likely be the highest grossing movie of 2017. That’s why Star Wars Celebration, the fan event celebrating the franchise, was the perfect time to get the hype rolling with a panel featuring director Rian Johnson, President of Lucasfilm Kathleen Kennedy, and cast members Mark Hamill, Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, and Kelly Marie Tran.

The film’s cast includes Oscar Isaac and Lupita Nyong’o reprising their roles as Poe Dameron and Maz Kanata, respectively. It will also introduce Benicio del Toro as a character who has yet to be revealed.

Although Isaac couldn’t attend the Star Wars Celebration, John Boyega assured us that the on-screen bromance between their characters, Finn and Dameron, would continue when asked about it by host Josh Gad. “Absolutely. Poe’s my boy,” he said. “There’s always a new adventure for us to go on.”

Johnson has captured his experience by taking pictures on set, at Celebration with fans, and even during the panel. He shared some of his behind-the-scenes images, including ones of Oscar Isaac handsomely posing with a cup of coffee in his pilot seat and handsomely hanging out with Boyega and the late Carrie Fisher.

The panel ended with the reveal of the first trailer for The Last Jedi, which only gave us a brief shot of Isaac running with his droid BFF, BB-8, in the midst of a battle.

You can catch the trailer here and hope it holds you over until December:
