On Sunday (July 31), pop star and actress Thalia took to social media to share with her fans a recent discovery.

She found the original dress she wore during her 1994 Mexican telenovela Marimar. The series, which ran for 150 episodes from January to August, featured Thalia in the title role as a poor young woman who lived on the beaches of Ixtapa Zihuatanejo in Mexico. She is swept off her feet by the son of a wealthy ranch owner who disapproves of their relationship.

From the video Thalia posted, the dress looks exactly like the one from the TV show. It is short in length with a floral pattern and shades of blue, beige, green, and pink. The dress also has the same frayed edges and tears on it as before.

Not only did Thalia show off her discovery, but she also tried it on and styled her hair and makeup to recreate the entire look of her character.

“In my wildest dreams, I would have never imagined that this character would be a part of me during my lifetime,” Thalia wrote along with the video. “And, of course, with good reason since I put all my heart, passion, and my personal style of how to create my ideal Costeñita, that is, a real part of me is forever captured in each scene we filmed.”

She added that when she tried on the dress and became the character – nearly 30 years later – the experience “made me cry with joy and remember an avalanche of unforgettable moments.”

Thalia also posted videos and photos of her frolicking on the beach to give fans the total transformation. We’re sure her 19.7 million followers enjoyed the blast from the past.

“I had a lot of fun doing it for all of you,” Thalia said. “Although I have to admit, I also did it for myself.”
