Watch Diego Luna’s Brooding Faces in the First ‘Rogue One’ Trailer

While Star Wars: The Force Awakens reinvigorated the franchise, the next film in the Star Wars family will give us baby-faced Diego Luna in all his brooding glory. Today, Good Morning America debuted the first trailer for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. Just like Episode VII, another badass woman will guide us through this adventure – this time it’s Jyn Erso (Felicity Jones).

It’s true Luna only makes a few appearances in the trailer, but he’s understandably excited.

And if we’re lucky, Luna will get the Oscar Isaac treatment – that is, a Spanish-language trailer that will give us way more footage from his point of view. Rogue One is the first stand-alone movie of the Star Wars universe, meaning that for the first time on film, Star Wars won’t follow the stories of the Skywalker family. To the disappointment of some, the 2015 film followed the same formula as Episode IV.  On the other hand, Rogue One probably won’t suffer from this problem.

Rogue One picks up between Episodes III and IV, and it tells the story of a group of freedom fighters who steal the plans to the Death Star. Though the war scenes are contained to the ground, it will still feature action-packed scenes. There’s certainly a sense of urgency as alarms blare throughout the new teaser.

Though the 1 min: 57 sec clip is not nearly enough to sort out what’s actually happening, it hasn’t stopped the Internet from throwing out theories. For example, io9 talked about the tropical beach planet scene potentially being shot in South America. “There were rumors the film was going to shoot in South America and maybe this is it,” Katharine Trendacosta said.

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story hits theaters on December 16, 2016.
