Jennifer Lopez leaves the rom-coms and wedding dresses behind in the teaser trailer for her upcoming action movie The Mother.

Directed by Niki Caro (Mulan), The Mother tells the story of a female assassin who comes out of hiding to protect the daughter that she gave up years before. The TUDUM preview begins with Lopez’s character doing pull-ups outside of a cabin on an isolated piece of snow-covered land. Lopez’s arms are ripped the same way they were 20 years ago when she starred in the 2002 crime drama Enough.

The teaser continues with Lopez showing off some of the weaponry she has housed in the cabin. She can handle her own business and she is hella strong, as seen in a shot where she drags a dead elk through the snowy landscape on her own.

Solitary living, however, isn’t in the cards for Lopez when she finds out her daughter (Lucy Paez) is in danger. “She needs protection right now,” she says.

From the preview, it looks like her daughter was almost kidnapped. “You saw what was out there,” Lopez tells a noticeably shaken Paez.

Now, bent on making sure her daughter isn’t caught in the crossfire, Lopez makes it her mission to put a stop to anything that can threaten her family. Dressed in military fatigues, she looks locked and loaded and ready for battle.

“If there’s trouble, come find me,” she says.

The Mother will be released on Netflix in 2023.
