The fourth season of the gritty biker drama Mayans M.C. will debut April 19 on FX and from the looks of this teaser trailer, fans are getting what they’ve wanted since the series first began: a showdown between the Mayans and the Sons of Anarchy.

Mayans M.C. is, of course, a spin-off of the Sons of Anarchy series that ran from 2008 to 2014. In the teaser trailer called “Battle,” the two motorcycle clubs face off like a scene pulled from Braveheart. With rain pouring down, thunder echoing, and fire-red lightning crashing behind them, the two gangs stand in the darkness wielding chains, knives, hammers, machetes, and other weapons.

For a few seconds, both are separated by a strip of highway before they all dig their boot heels into the mud and rush forward in slow motion to meet one another on the glistening, asphalt-paved road. Patches from both gangs can be seen on their leather jackets. Playing in the background is the indie rock band Yeah Yeah Yeahs’ song “Heads Will Roll” from their 2009 album, It’s Blitz!

Besides the lightning in the sky, illuminating the battlefield are barrels of fire burning alongside the street. A lone biker, Mayans M.C.’s Ezekiel “EZ” Reyes (J.D. Pardo), drives his motorcycle toward the action. Standing in waiting is EZ’s older brother Angel (Clayton Cardenas), who stares him down before EZ’s motorcycle suddenly breaks into pieces like something from a sci-fi movie.

So many questions are left unanswered from the end of Season 3. Will the retaliation from other chapters against the Mayans continue? Will EZ and Angel make amends with their father Felipe (Edward James Olmos)? How will an apparent fight between the Mayans and Sons of Anarchy play out? If we’re judging from the teaser from Mayans M.C., things are bound to get messy in Season 4.
