Woman Arrested for Masturbating While Watching ‘Fifty Shades of Grey’ in Sinaloa, Mexico

Look out Pee-wee Herman! Last week, a Mexican woman seemingly took a tip from that icon of wholesome 90s children’s TV when she got a little, ahem, “hands on” at a Sinaloa movie theater. Admittedly, the film in question was none other than 50 Shades of Grey — which some suggest is just a shade short of soft core pornography (critics are calling it mommy porn) — but the more restrained moviegoers in the audience were none too pleased with the woman’s brazen display of cinematic self satisfaction.

After traumatized onlookers contacted authorities, police approached the woman and handcuffed her in an entirely non-sadomasochistic display of police protocol, escorting her out of the theater and likely strapping her with some indecent exposure related charges. That is, unless prosecutors just felt pity for the young lady described as “33 years old and single,” the latter part of which may indicate an extended dry spell that could drive any sane person to commit such an unsavory act. Okay, maybe not any sane person.

Either way, the film in question is a rather understated audiovisual adaptation of a salacious book series that follows the BDSM misadventures of people with names like Anastasia Steele and Christian Grey. With pages upon pages of explicit sexual content, it’s hard to judge the unnamed perp for simply doing what so many unassuming middle-aged women were secretly thinking as they browned in beach chairs the world over. After all, we Latinos are passionate people, right?

Yeah, I’m not totally buying that one either.

In just two weeks, the critically-panned cinematic version of 50 Shades has racked up over $415 million dollars in box-office sales across 39 countries, and will reportedly beget a sequel that is already in the works. Meantime, please remember that itunes, Netflix and Amazon Prime will likely be bringing this monument to questionable bedroom etiquette to your own home for VOD consumption before too long. Until then: keep it in your pants, folks.
