Update: It’s official! Eva Longoria is launching a new luxury tequila called “Casa Del Sol” according to Forbes. This tequila celebrates Longoria’s Mexican roots, has a strong female influence, and is named after Tequila, a small town in Jalisco, Mexico.

Casa Del Sol translates to “House of the Sun” and is inspired by “the magic of the golden hour and Mayahuel, the Aztec goddess of agave.” It’s made from 100 percent Blue Weber, the common name given to a cultivated species of agave. And they’re offering three types of tequilas: Blanco (White), Reposado (Red), and Añejo (Aged).

“When this brand came to my attention, it was really the first time that a tequila came at me with an authentic connection,” Longoria says of Casa Del Sol in an interview with For(bes) the Culture. “They were all about authentic Mexican roots; they were all about talent. Talent behind the actual liquid – the actual juice. I loved the idea that you could bring casual drinkers and enthusiasts together to enjoy a product that was founded with authentic Mexican roots with strong female influence.”

Eva Longoria is getting in on the tequila business. Page Six reports that the actress, director, and producer is partnering with a yet-to-be-named company for an August launch.

Hollywood’s tequila founders club has been growing in recent years. Names like George Clooney, Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson, Bryan Cranston, and even Kendall Jenner have launched their own brands. However, this Hollywood interest has faced backlash due to cultural appropriation or the dissociation of the liquor’s Mexican origins. Longoria’s upcoming brand is said to have “authentic Mexican roots, straight from the heart of Jalisco.”

For the tequila novices out there, the liquor is mainly made from the blue agave plant, which is found in areas around the city of Tequila, Mexico, through Guadalajara and into the Mexican state of Jalisco.

Longoria has playfully posted her fondness for adult libations of all kinds on her social media. But it’s been clear since her 2016 wedding to Jóse Bastón that tequila held a special place in her corazon. Fresh off her honeymoon, while promoting the movie Lowriders, she recalled her wedding being filled with so many wonderful moments, but “then the tequila kind of blurred it all,” she told People from the red carpet of that event.

This tequila endeavor is just one of the many things Longoria has been up to. She is currently in the middle of directing the much-talked-about Flamin Hot movie. Her latest film, Boss Baby, was just released earlier this month. And she and fellow tequila maker George Clooney, with other celebrities, are in the middle of opening a production school in a predominantly Latino neighborhood. Additionally, she’s serving as a director/EP for the upcoming The Gordita Chronicles on HBOMax and serving on the board of the Television Academy Foundation. Whew! No wonder she needs a drink of her own.
