‘One Day at a Time’ Cast Members Show Solidarity to LGBTQ Community at LA Pride

For many people, One Day at a Time was not only special because it gave us a look at a non-stereotypical Latinx family, but also because it handled issues with great care. One of the plot lines that most resonated with viewers was when Elena Alvarez (Isabella Gomez) came out to her family. In the aftermath, we saw her parents struggle with this news, with her mom working to embrace her and her dad immediately shunning her.

Unfortunately, Netflix made the decision to cancel the show this year, and as people continue to hope that a network will save the show from extinction, the cast continues to support the LGBTQ community. This weekend, a few members of the show – including Justina Machado – attended the LA Pride Parade to show solidarity with this community.
