Despite health concerns during a recent live performance, Alejandro Fernández announced a 21-city date Amor Y Patria U.S. tour yesterday (Feb. 13). The U.S. tour is set to begin on Sept. 8 in Sacramento, CA, and make stops in huge cities like Los Angeles, Chicago, New York, and Las Vegas. The tour will wrap up in Miami, FL, on Oct. 22.

“I’m excited to return to the U.S. to celebrate Latino culture through my music,” Fernández said in a press statement. “I’ve put together a totally new show. I can’t wait to see my fans and sing all our favorite songs together. ¡Y que viva México!”

Moreover, in an interview with USA Today, the Mexican music icon opened up about performing after his late father, Vicente Fernandez’s death. “It’s going to be on your mind your whole life,” he said. “I’m always going to miss him … the important thing is trying to overcome this and being able to dedicate my show(s) to my father.”

With these new shows, not only does he aim to dedicate them to his father’s memory, but he’s also continuing the father-son tour routine. His son, Alex Fernández, will be accompanying him during most of the upcoming tour dates. “I’m so proud of him,” he said about the ongoing tradition. “I did the same with my father and he supported me a lot.”

“Sharing moments like this is an honor and a source of pride,” Alex wrote on his social media about sharing the stage with his father. “@Alexoficial you are my teacher in life and also on stage. I thank life for giving us this opportunity 🙌🏼.”

Besides the tour news, El Potrillo is also releasing new music. He recently released “Inexperto En Olvidarte,” the first taste of his forthcoming and highly-anticipated album. Tickets for the Amor Y Patria tour will go on sale on Feb. 17 at 10 a.m. local time.
