It’s Instagram official! Anuel AA took to social media on New Year’s day to announce that he and fiancée Karol G will finally tie the knot in 2020. While an exact date has yet to be shared, the urbano star’s caption on his Instagram post does confirm that “Este año hay boda,” so there you have it.

While these two are not shy about expressing their affection — take a quick glance at any of their social media pages and you’ll find adoring, PDA-filled flicks of the pair — they haven’t always been so forthright. Anuel, 27, and Karol, 28, initially teased fans for months when dating rumors first began circulating in late 2018. All signs seemed to point to the fact that these two were an item, but we had no real confirmation until they made their first joint red-carpet appearance at Billboard’s Latin Music Awards in April 2019. But their appearance revealed more than we even expected: Karol G had a ring on that finger. And with that, the couple essentially announced their engagement.

After all those months of being coy about their status, Karol finally spoke to outlets about their plans for marriage. Back in August, she told Entertainment Tonight that she didn’t have “any wedding planning updates” yet. She said, “I can tell you that I’m living as if we are already married.”

Even so, Karol also hinted at what she hopes her wedding will be like. “I think I want something super simple, something natural, something small,” she shared. “To be honest, I haven’t thought about the specific things because I want everything to be super simple and natural as possible.”

“In reality,” she added, “What I want is for people not to stress about how they’re going to look and what they are going to wear. Or by the fact that there might be news outlets around, and we might feel restrained from having a good time.” Well, Anuel — hopefully, you’re taking notes!
