There’s a chance Peso Pluma could team up with sierreño singer DannyLux next. During weekend one of Coachella, the two rising stars in regional Mexican music collide backstage.

DannyLux was one of the Latine performers on the Coachella line-up this year. The Palm Springs native had a full-circle moment performing at the music festival where his dad once picked up trash as a sanitation worker. Peso Pluma was a special guest during the first weekend of Coachella, thanks to Becky G. The Mexican-American pop star invited him to sing their collaboration “Chanel” live for the first time.

Backstage at the festival, DannyLux and Peso Pluma met in person. While also meeting DannyLux’s mom, the Mexican rapper and singer said he was interested in working with her son. YouTube’s Head of Artist Partnerships, Latin Music and Culture, AJ Ramos caught the moment between DannyLux, his mom, and Peso Pluma on video.

“Danny is the best,” Peso Pluma said in Spanish on a video on the sixth slide. “This guey has a lot of fucking talent. We’re going to make a song together. We already agreed to that.”

A collaboration between DannyLux and Peso Pluma would be amazing. Peso Pluma has worked with sad sierreño group Eslabon Armado, which resulted in one of the biggest hits of the year with “Ella Baila Sola.” DannyLux’s alternative sierreño edge with Peso Pluma’s raspy vocals could be another fresh sound for regional Mexican music. His upcoming album will be called DLux

Since becoming one of this year’s breakthrough Latine stars, Peso Pluma has kept making history. “Ella Baila Sola” rose to No. 5 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart this week. It marked the first time that a regional Mexican song has reached the top five on the all-genre chart. Their collaboration also pushed past Grupo Frontera and Bad Bunny’s “Un x100to” on Spotify’s Global 50 chart where it currently sits at No. 1.
