Whatever follows, just know that Benito didn’t even ruin his manicure. Hot off his performance at the Super Bowl earlier this month, the 25-year-old trapero actually made it back to the NBA All-Star Celebrity game this year in Chicago. If we’re honest, our expectations weren’t set too high following last year’s letdown. We’re not saying we expect NBA-level skills here, but with teams chock full of other befuddled celebrities, we at least hoped for more than last year’s nil performance.
Turns out, we were doubting Bad Bunny all along. Not only can he rock a pink uniform; he can actually score.
It’s a San Benito miracle. The Boricua star, who played on Team Wilbon alongside rapper Common, Jidenna and country star Kane Brown, started off in the first quarter. While he spent most of the night chilling with a Gatorade towel wrapped around his neck and sitting court side, he did manage to (marvelously!) put up a layup once over the dozen or so minutes he spent on the hardwood. Take that, Team Stephen A!
The opposing team consisted of a not-too-shabby list of music notables like Migos’ Quavo, Chance the Rapper and his little brother, Taylor Bennett. For such an all-star lineup, however, the crew still lost with a score of 62-47. Tough luck for Quavo, who was gunning to win back this year’s MVP award.
Instead, Team Wilbon captain and the South Side’s very own Common, took home the NBA’s Celebrity All-Star MVP honor. Nobody doubted his efforts that night, except perhaps for Bad Bunny; El Conejo needed to let fans know that, yes, he was benched for most of the game but he still contributed to those two points, though!
So he took one last moment to shine. During the presentation of the MVP trophy, Benito was actually spotted awkwardly shuffling into the frame and reaching his arms out for Common’s trophy. Somebody come get their man!
