Bad Bunny and J Balvin are pretty much reggaeton and trap en español’s men of the moment, and their continued dominance in the Spanish-language music industry is all but guaranteed with a long rumored collaborative album.
Today, El Conejo Malo and The Business teased the collaborative album in a just-announced cover story over at Complex. Back in May, Balvin originally discussed the joint album during a Beats 1 conversation with radio host Ebro Darden, in which the Colombian star revealed that the pair has six or seven unreleased songs together (they’ve previously linked up on “Si Tu Novio Te Deja Sola,” Cardi B’s “I Like It,” and other tracks). During that interview, Ebro asked for a tentative title for the project, and the Vibras star immediately suggested Oasis.
In the Complex cover story, Bad Bunny and Balvin took to the streets of Bushwick, Brooklyn for a photo op and to play domino with the locals. At a private bar during the interview, El Conejo told Rapetón editor-in-chief Angel Vera that Balvin had already dropped the bomb about a project in the works. He also revealed more about the meaning behind the project’s tentative title. “It’s a rescue, a relief, to freshen up. You go there to supply yourself with the vital things you are missing, things that you need.” Angel continues, “So without saying yes or no, you basically said yes already. Oasis. A joint album is coming and it’s called Oasis.”
Given the success of collaborative mainstream hip-hop albums like Drake and Future’s What a Time to Be Alive or 21 Savage and Offset’s Without Warning, it was only a matter of time until The Business and El Conejo Malo joined forces for their own project.
